Phantom Vanity

Erin Boyd

Erin Boyd has worn many hats during her time in New York City as a vocalist, songwriter, and activist. Boyd has worked and shared the stage with artists Dave East, Cyril Nevil, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick the Ruler, The Nth Power, Jennifer Hartswick, Remember Jones, Shira Elias, Erica Falls, Matador! Soul Sounds with Eddie Roberts, and Nikki Glaspie. Her lead role in “Their Eyes Were Watching Gummy Bears” won ‘Best Short’ at the San Diego Film Festival. She can be heard in the latest Smirnoff Infamous commercial singing “Shimmy Ya”. She has landed national print commercials for VH1 and Nationwide Insurance. She is passionate about music and the creative community and it shows through her activist lead efforts and keen musical sensibility.

She is a BFA graduate from Fordham University at Lincoln Center, studied in Paris France, and obtained her AA from the Boston Conservatory. Boyd was born in Bricktown, New Jersey and raised by the Gulf coastal waters of Tampa, Florida. Music changed the trajectory of her life at a young age. She began singing in the school choir and quickly began singing professionally and acting in national commercials. She is the Florida NAACP ACT-SO Gold medalist for county and state (the mission of ACT-SO has been to prepare, recognize and reward youth African descent who exemplify scholastic and artistic excellence), and performed the national anthem for the NY Yankees, Orlando Magic, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Acting came naturally, it was no surprise she earned a Disney and SeaWorld national commercial during her first year of “acting”.

Being an active member in the Brooklyn community she found a home in The Sound Mind Collective An organization of like minded musicians who focus on building stronger club to artist relationships, with fair wages and equal opportunities for independent artists. Currently, Boyd is spearheading “Love, New York” a virtual fundraiser for 30 NY based artists and two favorited independent music venues C’mon Everybody and Barbes. Through her leadership the fundraiser has partnered with Gibson Guitars and brought on NYC legendary DJ Rich Medina, Nick Cassarino, James Casey, Amanda Brown, Paris Monster, and Louis Cato to name a few .

Taking her activism from the stage to the streets, Boyd is an active member of the Resistance Revival Chorus who together have performed with the likes of Fleet Foxes, Patti Smith, Deva Mahal, and Carly Simon. A personal highlight was performing at The Apollo Theater for Harry Belafonte’s 95th Birthday Celebration. Boyd also had the distinct honor of performing with the chorus for the Biden/Harris welcome week kick-off inauguration ceremony.

Erin Boyd is a visionary artist. She writes her own music, lyrics, directs her music videos, and is the all around fire that leads the project, Phantom Vanity. The Vintage Slacker EP brought together a mighty collection of tremendous talents. It is a celebration of friendships, some of which span over 18 years. Featuring: Dmitry Gorodetsky (Charlie Puth), Nigel Hall (Lettuce), Elenna Canlas (Sinkane, Big Everything), Rodney Flood, Joel Fuentes (RYNO), Steven Padin and Joey Secchiaroli (Kindo), Rob Lewis (Christina Aguilera, KOB), Weedie Braimah (Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah), Bryan Morton (John Lindahl), Louis Cato (Lucius, Bobby Mcferrin), Corey Bernhard (Killiam Shakespeare, Snarky Puppy), Reuben Cainer (Big Yuki, Animus Rexx), Henry Ramon, James Casey (Meghan Trainor, Trey Anastasio Band, Animus Rexx), Matt Owens (Mean Girls Original Broadway Cast) and Nick Cassarino (The Nth Power, Jennifer Hartswick).

Currently, she is working on her second album and writing for fellow musicians.

“I want to be able to sing about how we travel through all these self-inflicted barriers that make us afraid, lonely, spiteful. How we mature and become comfortable and fair to ourselves, how we learn to love ourselves and love others,” she said. “I want to sing songs that are empowering,” says Boyd
